Developing a great serve is key to putting a fantastic spin on the ball. To do this, keep the following two points in mind:

You need a brushing action and and a fast swing

Initially this is best done away from the table as the surface is quite small and can restrict the speed at which you swing. So step away from the table and practice your high-speed swing at the ball while at the same time initiating a solid brushing action. It’s important to watch the ball after you hit it to analyze how much it is curving and spinning. It is also important to add variety to your game in order to change up the amount of spin your serves generate.

When it comes to learning the sport of table tennis, there are no shortcuts. The best solution is PRACTICE, PRACTICE and more PRACTICE.

Do not be afraid to take 100 balls and start practicing. Even the pros have to practice their craft.

When it comes to serving, remember to test out new methods, vary your spin and keep practicing! If you have an experience that you would like to share, we encourage you to post it in the comment section below!
