Try a Pro Racket—Feel the Difference

Most players bring their paddle—but in many cases, it’s a basic recreational model. During your session, we’ll let you try a professional-grade paddle so that you can feel the difference in control, spin, and precision.

Once you’ve trained with high-quality gear, your original paddle might feel like a toy, and that’s when we can help you understand what to look for if you’re considering an upgrade. There’s no pressure, just the chance to compare, learn, and improve.

Flexible, Mobile Coaching—We Come to You

This lesson is available at Newport Beach Athletic Club or anywhere across Newport Beach and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re in your driveway, office, or clubhouse, we’ll bring the ping pong balls, paddles, and a caddy tray, along with coaching tools, to you.

FAQs About 1-on-1 Ping Pong Lessons

How many lessons will I need to improve my table tennis skills?

The number of lessons needed to see improvement really depends on your current skill level, your goals, and how much you practice between sessions. Most players start to notice progress after just a few lessons, especially with consistent practice.

For beginners, a package of 5 to 10 lessons often builds a strong foundation and helps develop key skills. More advanced players benefit from ongoing lessons to refine technique and strategy.

The most important part is staying consistent and enjoying the journey! We’ll tailor each session to your needs and regularly check in on your progress to make sure you’re moving toward your goals.

Can this lesson help me prepare for competitive play?

Yes, we design our lessons to support all skill levels—from beginners to advanced and competitive players. We’ll tailor your training to focus on the skills, strategies, and match situations you’ll face in competitive play. Whether you’re working on technique, mental game, or match tactics, we’re here to help you prepare and compete with confidence.

What should I bring or wear?

We recommend wearing comfortable athletic clothes and non-marking court shoes. Please bring your own paddle if you have one, a small towel, and water. If you don’t have a paddle, let us know—we have a few available to borrow.

Do you coach left-handed players?

Yes, we coach both left- and right-handed players. Our lessons are tailored to your individual playing style and strengths, so you’ll receive instruction that works best for you.

How many lessons do I need if I have a friendly competition at work?

For most friendly competitions, we recommend 5 to 10 lessons. This gives you plenty of time to build strong fundamentals, develop your skills, and practice real match situations. If you have a competition date in mind, let us know—we’ll help you prepare and feel confident by game day.

Do you offer 60-minute lessons?

At this time, we offer only 90-minute lessons. This allows for a more complete training session, covering technique, drills, and match play—all at a pace that supports real improvement.

Can I share the lesson with a friend or family member?

Yes! If you’d like to train with a friend or two, we offer dedicated sessions for pairs or groups of three.

Please visit our Lessons for Two or Lessons for Three pages to book your 120-minute small group session and get personalized coaching together.

How many times can I reschedule my lesson?

You may reschedule your lesson only 2 times, and each reschedule must be requested at least 72 hours in advance.

After two reschedules, further changes are not allowed and the lesson fee will be forfeited. No refunds are given for missed or non-rescheduled lessons.

Example: If your lesson is scheduled for Friday at 5:00 PM, you must notify us by Tuesday at 5:00 PM to reschedule.
